When we attempted to restore those files we found out that BackBlaze had purposefully deleted them, and then had lied to us (via their dashboard) to make us think it was still backing up our files.

People should never think that a file is backed up when it isn't, but your entire platform is based around this. All of the little tricks you do to make it appear more responsive and faster are actually causing files to not get backed up. Why? Because your dashboard reports back that is has files it doesn't. Your shitty application lost a ton of photos that my girlfriend had. Upon complaining about this, I get hand-waving from them.

It turns out that backblaze scans your machine slowly, looking for files that have been modified. Fortunately a friend hammered into me "if you haven't restored a file, you don't have backups", so I tried to restore one, and lo and behold it wasn't backed up.
